Marketing with Infographics

65349071_thumbnailThere is an old saying that states, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” This is great, because 1000 words means expecting a serious time commitment from your audience. But one picture? They probably have time for that. With only seconds to captivate your audience’s attention, healthcare organizations are starting to rely on infographics to take facts and figures and evolve them into something much more appealing.

Did you know?

That the average social media user intakes, on average, about 285 different pieces of content per day when scrolling through different accounts.  How are you expected to make sure they stop and pay attention to your infographic?

I’ll let you in on a secret . . . approximately 65% of people are visual learners. What does this mean for you? It means that your customers are more likely to remember (and act upon) content that is transmitted to them visually.

Attracting attention

As we all know in the social media world, you want to get the most shares and likes on your content as possible. Utilize these 5 steps to make sure your efforts are being put to good use, and as a result, you will not be just another picture getting scrolled over.

1. Brand Recognition

Health organizations, such as The American Red Cross, have created infographics that are able to promote awareness about their brand and specific causes, while making sure they remain consistent with their content without overburdening the viewers.pinterest american red cross

2. Audience Interests

In order to really gain the audience’s attention, you need to capitalize on their interests and make their jaws drop.  By attracting their emotions, not only are you engaging with them, but you are hitting them at home.

3. Stay away from overloading text

The whole point of an infographic is to let the picture do the talking in a way that words could not possibly cover effectively.  Don’t cram a lot of words into it.  A good infographic will not need many words.

4. Tell a story

Here is your time to shine.  This is your chance to make the words you want to say come to life in a visual representation.  Go beyond the statistics and data and show the audience the truth behind the picture.

5. Keep it simple

Make sure that when you are creating your infographic, you do not create a layout that is way too confusing for viewers to understand.  There should never be a time when users are puzzled about the message that you are trying to relay to them. It is not their responsibility to figure out what your infographic means; it’s your responsibility to convey that information to them effectively.

Let’s wrap this up

You have a message you want to get out there about a concern or topic your company is interested in.  Well, let the graphs be all the proof you need.  Infographics are the way to go!

Whether you are talking about healthy infographics that show “smart plate guidelines” for meal portion sizes, or pictures of shocking statistics that show the realism of eating disorders, infographics help relay facts and figures that could otherwise be difficult to communicate.

These images are so compelling, audiences will not soon forget them.
