Top 5 Image Tools for Social Sharing
A good image can make the difference between a share and a drive-by, and social media demands you use images front and center in your strategy. This emphasis on the visual is no surprise; 90% of the information transmitted to your brain is visual. We process images quickly, far more quickly than text. So it’s only natural that videos and pics are shared more than two times as much as pure text updates.
Below I’ve listed five of my favorite image tools, most of them free. It’s a good place to start if your visual strategy needs a jumpstart.
- Death to the Stock Photo
Looking for high-quality photos delivered straight to your email? Check out Death to the Stock Photo, which requires you to sign up, but the basic version is completely free. You get a complimentary pack of photos when you register, and then a pack every month via email. - Visual.ly
Infographics are sharable, but if we’re being completely honest, they’re also a PITA to create. That’s where Visual.ly comes in. A startup that launched as an infographic-building tool, the company now works on a marketplace model, and allows users to also source videos, presentations and interactive media. - Share As Image
Social media is visual. Share As Image lets users create micro-content quickly and cheaply – based on the premise that good images mean more traffic and better engagement. It’s easy, it’s branded, and the most basic version is free. - New Old Stock
Looking for something vintage? Check out New Old Stock on Tumblr, which publishes vintage shots from the Public Archives (free of known copyright restrictions). Free, y’all. You should be using this site. - Meme Generator
I’ll just leave this here.
